Rock Inlet Program

The Alternative Tile Intake Program has been very popular with landowners looking at other options for surface drainage.  These intakes are relatively simple, inexpensive, and provide water quality benefits by removing a large percentage of sediments and phosphorus leaving crop fields via tile drainage.  Comments from crop producers relate to not only the water quality benefits, but also to the ease by which equipment can be used on and around these structures, positive crop responses, and the elimination of suction voids that can contribute to sediment entering the tile line.

This program provides a 50% cost-share, not to exceed $200/intake, for the installation of alternative surface tile intakes to replace existing surface tile intakes. Cost-share dollars are currently available. If you are interested in replacing your intakes, please contact the SWCD Office.
